Who We Are

The Making a Mark Foundation, Inc. was created to support families affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Founded in memory of Mark Solveson, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in his early fifties, the foundation seeks to ease the emotional and financial burdens that come with caring for a loved one with dementia. Mark, a devoted father, husband, brother, and grandfather, battled the disease for several years before passing away at the age of 59. Despite having insurance, his family still faced significant financial challenges as the disease progressed.

In response to these struggles, Mark’s daughter, Samantha, founded Making a Mark with a clear mission: to raise funds that will provide financial relief to families navigating the hardships of dementia care. The foundation’s goal is to help families focus on what truly matters—spending quality time with their loved ones—by alleviating some of the financial strain.

Here’s to you, Dad!
